I decided to go ahead and transcribe the "Epitaph on a poet" on page 73. I found the line breaks very interesting, so I did my best to break it up the way Spender did. I put the text in two colors to show how the date was written in a lighter blue than the rest of the epitaph. When I was typing out the date at the bottom, I couldn't decide whether to put "Jul", "July" or "Juy" as it is a sort of hybrid letter that looks like a very long "j". I settled on "l" because it was the closest I could get to the mark. I can only tell it is supposed to say "July" at all because of page 77 which has a similar character, just more well formed.
Epitaph on a poet.
They said my life was wild ; but still I led it
(A haltered lion) to the very end :
I had a word to say , and having said it
Turned back to Death again , my
only friend .
